Thursday 10 October | 3pm & 5pm

Grab a cushion and get ready for the second edition of C-A-C’s popular Kiddies Cushion Concert. As part of our Fiji Day celebrations, Matavai Pacific Cultural Arts, Pauliasi, Ilisavani and MC Trey will take the whole family on a journey of Fijian storytelling through Fijian meke dance and music.

Meke in the Fijian language, is a traditional style of dance that is typically performed during celebrations and festivals. Through dance and song, Fijian stories have been passed on through generations in Fiji and now in Australia.

Matavai Pacific Cultural Arts shares dance, music, language and creative arts to promote the cultural diversity and heritage of Pacific communities, teaching awareness, participation, connection and understanding of Pacific Island culture. Pauliasi, Ilisavani and MC Trey are Sydney-based Fijian vocalists who will share traditional Fijian and contemporary songs.

Curated by MC Trey, this event is presented by Campbelltown Arts Centre in collaboration with Tapastry.
