Students join gallery talks for Borrowed Scenery, 2019

Friday 14 June

High school students in years 9 – 12 are invited to an all-embracing Creative Careers Expo at Campbelltown Arts Centre.

Following the success of our booked out 2018 event, the 2019 Creative Careers Expo is packed with inspirational artist talks, information stalls from tertiary institutions, speed meets and unique opportunities for young people interested in studying and working in the creative sector.

Our star-studded program includes keynote presentation from artist Deborah Kelly as well as performance from rapper and singer, Mirrah. Artist panels facilitated by C-A-C Curators will feature a diverse cross-section of artists and roles, including musician L-FRESH THE LION, multi-disciplinary storyteller Emele Ugavule, artist and writer Kuba Dorabialski,artists and academics Paul McDermott, Teo Treloar andDr Sanné Mestrom,also joined by Mirrah and Deborah Kelly.

The 2019 program includes breakout workshops (limited places!); Painting with Watercolours with Madeleine Kelly from Sydney College of the Arts, and Stage Fundamentals with Narelle Yeo from Sydney Conservatorium of Music.

Throughout the day, Campbelltown Arts Centre will host stalls from key tertiary institutions and services; Academy of Music and Performing Arts (AMPA), Actors Centre Australia (ACA), AFTRS (Australian Film Television and Radio School), Art Gallery of NSW – Youth Collective, Australian Indigenous Mentoring Experience (AIME), Australian Theatre for Young People (ATYP), JMC Academy, Macquarie University, National Art School (NAS), National Institute of Dramatic Arts (NIDA), TAFE NSW, University of NSW – Art & Design, University of Sydney, University of Technology Sydney (UTS) and University of Wollongong.

Presented by Campbelltown Arts Centre, the Creative Careers Expo is the only one of its kind in Australia. The expo is an amazing opportunity to inspire, prepare, inform and facilitate young people considering post-school pathways in the arts and creative industries.

This is a drop-in event. School groups and individuals are welcome to book in for select times only, or stay for the full day.

9.30am Acknowledgment and Opening

11am – 12.15pm Breakout session

b) Panel discussion: Voice and Social Impact (unlimited places)
