ARTEXPRESS Mentorship

Campbelltown Arts Centre invites young artists in ARTEXPRESS to apply for a targeted mentorship program, various dates March – May 2017.

Application is by invitation only, open to individuals with work exhibited in ARTEXPRESS at Campbelltown Arts Centre, 7 April – 14 May, 2017. Applicants should be early career artists, studying or working in the arts, and/or individuals with an interest in pursuing a career in the arts or creative industries.

Potential topics

– Introduction to arts education and audience engagement
– Public speaking how to prepare for artist floor talks
– Creative business skills (eg. ABN and Invoicing for independent artists)
– Collaborative art-making and working with diverse audiences
– Arts industry career pathways

Program content will be developed based on the learning areas identified by mentees (you) in applications.

The program will be facilitated by acclaimed artists and arts professionals, including artists from the Campbelltown Arts Centre 2017 artistic program, as well as curators and arts educators from Campbelltown Arts Centre.

Program structure & time periods

– 4 x 3hr sessions, March – April 2017
– 1 x 5hr session*, 1 – 5 May, 2017 (up to 4 x 30minute artist talks throughout the day)

You will be notified of confirmed dates and times by 3 March, 2017.

 *Successful applicants are required to deliver a number of informal talks as part of a schools day for high school students visiting ARTEXPRESS at Campbelltown Arts Centre, one day in the week of 1 – 5 May 2017. This is a practical outcome of the program, with training and course time allocated to develop content and skills.

Mentee stipend (allowance)

– $100 per session (or $500 total)
– This will contribute towards travel and meal costs while participating in the mentorship
– Provisional on course attendance and active engagement
– Paid via 30 day invoice
