Another Day in Paradise Forums | Myu

Date: Saturday 14 January | 1pm to 4pm (FULLY BOOKED)

The first forum will explore the art and life of Myuran Sukumaran. Sukumaran executed in April 2015 for his role in the ‘Bali 9’ began his art practice while incarcerated at Bali’s Kerobokan jail, continuing to produce work prolifically until his final days on Nusa Kambangan Island under the tutelage of friend and mentor Ben Quilty. The Sukumaran family, speakers and artists in the exhibition will join in reflecting on his life, which saw him journey from his home in Sydney’s West to become an artist, mentor and leader during his incarceration, founding and sustaining the art studio in Kerobokan that afforded him peace and redemption through painting.

The forum will include a keynote address, panel discussion, and readings from local writers from Western Sydney University’s Sweatshop program.

Keynote speaker: Ben Quilty
