Another Day in Paradise Forums | Restore
Date: Saturday 18 March | 1pm to 4pm
The third and final Another Day in Paradise forum turns attention to alternate models of social justice globally. It highlights Indigenous and traditional approaches such as the Maori model of restorative justice operating in New Zealand’s courts, Aboriginal Australian circle sentencing courts, or the Village Courts that continue to thrive alongside imported models in Papua New Guinea. Speakers, artists and writers will take Myuran Sukumaran’s story as a starting point to explore models of justice that put redemption and rehabilitation within community at their core.
The forum will include a keynote address, panel discussion, and readings from local writers from Western Sydney University’s Sweatshop program.
