Year 12 Visual Arts: Frames & Unseen Works
Saturday 29 June | 9am – 12pm
Our term 2 Saturday study day will support and challenge year 12 students to respond to unseen works, also providing advice on essay writing structure and creative approaches to stress-relief.
Students will be supported to test and extend their art interpretation skills and knowledge of the Frames, responding in real time and place to shiny new works in current exhibition, OK Democracy, We Need to Talk.
Acclaimed visual arts teacher Mariah Calman will guide students through essay writing structure and advice as applicable to HSC paper Part II.
Exhibiting artist Abdullah M.I. Syed will speak to students about his practice, and share advice for those considering post-school pathways in the arts or creative sector. Syed will wrap up the day with a creative relaxation exercise to help students to focus, tune in, and look after all parts of themselves in this final school year.
Using peer-to-peer and applied learning, creativity, responding in real time with artworks and artists, our Study Series are designed to prepare and extend visual arts students for their final school year, but also inspire their passion for the arts post-school.

This is part of a targeted series for stage 6 visual arts students.
Frames & Unseen Works is the final session for year 12 students of 2019; students commencing their HSC year in term 4 are also invited to join our major Artists & Practice day on Tuesday 29 October, focused on BOW development.
